The Dartmouth women's tennis team knocked off the country's #61-ranked team, beating the University of Minnesota 4-3 this afternoon at the Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion. With the score knotted at 3-3, freshman Jesse Adler clinched the final match for the Big Green, winning 1-6, 6-0, 7-6 (3). The Big Green's spring record is now 7-1.
Dartmouth got off to a slow start, dropping all three doubles matches to the Golden Gophers. The Big Green quickly rebounded in singles, with sophomore Jamie Caplan winning easily at No. 6 singles to put Dartmouth on the board. Senior co-captain Kerry Snow tied the match at 2-2 with a straight set win at No. 4, and freshman Mary Beth Winingham notched another straight set win for the Big Green at No. 2 singles. Adler put the icing on the cake, winning in thrilling fashion in a third set tiebreaker, with both teams on court, cheering on their teammates.
The Big Green return to action in Florida on March 17 against Florida Atlantic in Boca Raton at 1 p.m.
