Dartmouth's Novosel Named Ivy League Rookie of the Week in Men's Lacrosse
Hanover, N.H. - Dartmouth freshman Michael Novosel (Somers, N.Y.) stopped eight shots, including four in overtime as the Big Green outlasted No. 18 Brown, 9-8 in four overtimes. The game marked the longest men's lacrosse game in Dartmouth history. Novosel picked up two ground balls and caused two turnovers. Against Vermont, earlier in the week, he stopped nine shots in the 16-7 win, picking up a groundball and causing a turnover.
The 5-11 goalkeeper has started all seven games for Dartmouth this spring. He has an 8.99 goals against average and a 4-3 record.
The Big Green started the season 0-3 but has rebounded to above .500 with four straight wins, two of them against ranked opponents.
Novosel was a two-time member of the Hudson Valley scholastic lacrosse team and captain of the Somers High School team as a senior.
Michael is the son of Elena Hartz of Somers, N.Y.
