HANOVER, N.H. -- Nick Santomauro (North Caldwell, N.J.) of the Dartmouth baseball team was recognized by the Ivy League on April 10, as the Co-Rookie of the Week for his play in the team's weekend contests against Cornell and Princeton.
The freshman, who has previously been named to the Ivy League honor roll, was named Co-Rookie of the Week along with Penn's William Gordon. Santomauro led the Big Green in hitting over the weekend going six-for-13 with a double and an RBI in the team's four game set against Cornell and Princeton. Santomauro also scored three of the teams 11 runs on the weekend as he held a .533 on base percentage and a .462 batting average. He now holds a .346 average in the league, which is tops on the Dartmouth squad.
Junior Russell Young (Cleburne, Texas) was also named to the Ivy Leagues Honor Roll after pitching Dartmouth's only win over the weekend in Game One of a doubleheader against Princeton. The captain went a complete game, seven innings, allowing only one run and five hits. He now has a 1-1 record in the Ivies with a 2.77 ERA.
The Big Green will take to the field again tomorrow when they travel to Quinnipiac University for a 3:00 pm start.
