Nick Santomauro (North Caldwell, N.J.) started and earned three at-bats for the University Division in a 2-0 loss at the New England Collegiate Baseball All-Star Game at Fenway Park on Sunday night. Santomauro went 0-for-3 with a pair of fly outs and a groundout.
The College Division, which is made up of Division II and III All-Stars, got two runs in the final innings on only two hits to earn the 2-0 victory. The University Division (Division I) scattered four hits, but could not cross the plate as the College Division used eight pitchers to shut down the Division I All-Stars.
Bentley College shortstop Steve Gath was given the game's Most Valuable Player as he tripled and scored on a sacrifice fly for the first run of the contest, while Brown's Jeff Dietz was named the Pitcher of the Game with two hitless innings of work with one strike out.
The College Division has won three of the last five contests, but the University Division owns a 21-10-1 advantage all-time.
