Dartmouth men's swimming and diving (1-6, 0-4 EISL) will travel to New Haven, Conn. Sat, Jan 19, to go up against Yale and Penn in an Ivy League showdown. The meet begins at 10 a.m.
Dartmouth Outlook
Big Green men's swimming and diving will look to bounce back following a tough meet against the Boston University Terriers, Jan. 12. The two and a half hour bus ride back to Boston was probably pleasant for BU following their 189.5-110.5 victory at the Karl Michael Pool in Hanover.
Highlighting the meet for the Big Green was a huge win and personal best in the 50-yard Freestyle event by
Alex Fidel (Pheonix, Ariz.) with a time of 21.91, his first time breaking 22 seconds in the event.
Also picking up a win for Dartmouth was
Joe Braunreuther (South Orange, N.J.) who won the 1000-yard Freestyle event with a time of 9:51.87, winning by just under four seconds.
Scouting Yale
Yale currently holds 3-1 overall, and 2-0 Ivy records. The Bulldogs are coming off their last meet, Jan. 12 in Annapolis, in which they lost to Navy 141-159, but beat Cornell 167.5-132.5.
In the men's 200-meter medley relay, Yale took first place. Thomas Robinson, Matt Sweitzer, Chris Pool, and Alex Righi combined for a time of 1:43.26 to take first place in the race.
Righi seems to be their guy, as he earned wins in the 100-meter backstroke, with a time of 55.88, the 50 yard freestyle in 22.76 and the 100 yard freestyle with a time of 50.12.
Scouting Penn
Penn currently holds 6-3 overall, and 1-3 Ivy records. The Quakers are coming off a 195-99 win Jan. 5, in Boca Raton, Fla. against Florida Atlantic. In its last Ivy League meet, also on Jan 5, against Brown in Fla., they were defeated 113-185.
The Last meeting
The last meeting between Dartmouth, Yale, and Penn took place on Jan. 20 of last season with Yale and Penn earning wins.
