Burlington, Vt. ?The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team was defeated in a close meet by the University of Vermont at Vermont's Forbush Natatorium 158-142.
This meet was the first taste of competition in over a month for Dartmouth, a week after returning from its training trip to Ireland. The loss for Dartmouth moved its record on the season to 1-5 overall, 0-3 Ivy.
Senior and co-captain Liz Mancuso (Andover, Mass.) had a stellar night in the pool for the Big Green, winning the 50-yard freestyle with a time of 25.33, the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 59.70, and also taking home a win in the 200-yard IM with a time of 2:13.24.
Also pulling out victories in the lap-pool for the Big Green were freshman Virginia Selden (Birmingham, Ala.) in the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:12.25, and Junior Heather Jankins in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:08.70.
In the deep end of the pool Bridget Duffey (Boxford, Mass) pulled out a victory in the 1 meter diving event with a final score of 227.60.
The next meet for the Big Green will be Saturday, January 12, when it hosts Boston University at 1:00 p.m.
