Greetings!
With the fall term 2008 upon us and a hint of autumn in the air, we welcome back our men to campus as we plunged into our first team practice this week! It is hard to believe we have had to wait this long for the fall term to officially begin and to welcome the Class of 2012 to Hanover, NH! This geographically diverse class comes to us from California, Colorado, Connecticut, Minnesota, New York, Pennsylvania, and Texas. We are very proud of this group as they are all young men of tremendous character and work-ethic that will enrich the Dartmouth community both on and off the field.
This fall we have a few exciting October events to announce. First we will be competing in the "Catamount Classic for a Cure" on Sunday, October 12 at Thayer Academy in Braintree, MA. A 100% donated event, all money raised will go directly to the Dana Farber Cancer Institute in Boston (more specifically the area that treats testicular and prostate cancers). We will face Fairfield, UMass, and Providence in three 50-minute running time games. While the event will begin at 11:00 am, our game times include 12:00 pm, 1:00 pm, and 2:00 pm respectively.
Next, on Saturday, October 18 we will have our Annual Lacrosse Weekend in conjunction with Homecoming Weekend! Once again we welcome back our alumni, family, and friends to celebrate Dartmouth and the Big Green lacrosse family. At 8:00 a.m. = 11:00 a.m. we will hold our annual Board Meeting Breakfast at the Hanover Inn with the Friends of Men's Lacrosse Advisory Board, and meet to discuss the progress we have made within our committees and what direction we will move in together. Everyone is encouraged to participate as we bolster the involvement of our Friends and Alumni. Then off to Memorial Field for a 12:30 p.m. kick-off with Dartmouth football vs. Holy Cross. Go Big Green!
After the football game we will take on the Big Green alumni lacrosse team at 4:00 pm, Saturday, October 18, at Scully-Fahey Field. The field will be open at 3:00 pm with a 3:30 pm warm-up. To assure an unbelievable game and experience for everyone spread the word to all of your classmates and friends so this will be the best event it can possibly be! We will meet the 2008-09 Dartmouth lacrosse team and compete on the field as the Alumni look to defend the hardware from last fall. Take as much or as little time as you need to warm-up. Bring ALL the equipment you have, we will also have "extras" on the sideline for your use. We are playing on Field Turf so bring your cleats, turfs or flat bottom sneakers. Pre-game please report to Scully-Fahey Field at which time we will provide game jerseys, extra equipment, etc... No pressure to play. Please come and enjoy the Dartmouth family!
At 5:00 p.m. a post-game reception will be held at Scully-Fahey Field. Plenty of food and drink will be provided. We understand that some participants will want to attend other "Homecoming Weekend" gatherings after the game. We hope to be able to spend time pre and post game! See you soon! Please contact Ryan.Danehy@Dartmouth.edu or call 603-646-2083 to RSVP. Go Big Green!
