NEW YORK, N.Y. - The Dartmouth women's volleyball team won its last match of the 2008 season with a 3-1 victory over the Columbia Lions on Saturday afternoon. Game scores were 25-13, 25-22, 20-25, 25-20. Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) and Megan MacGregor (Carlsbad, Calif.) both had double-doubles.
Baird led the team with 19 kills and added 11 digs while MacGregor had 11 in both categories. Jess Thomas (Tampa, Fla.) closed out her career with 10 kills, six digs, five total blocks and two service aces. Amber Bryant (Libertyville, Ill.) was tops for both sides with 21 digs.
Dartmouth won the first set easily but the Lions came back and made the second set very close but the Big Green were victorious. Columbia came back to take the third set before the Big Green closed the match out with a 25-20 win.
The win gives Dartmouth an 8-16 overall record, 4-10 in the Ivy League while Columbia finished the season at 6-18, 0-14 Ivy.
