ANNAPOLIS, MD. ? The Dartmouth men's swimming and diving team lost to Brown and Navy this weekend in a three-team meet at Navy's short-course 25 meter pool.
Brown defeated Dartmouth, 183-117, the closest the Big Green has come to the Bears in four years and Navy won, 179-110 over the Green. Dartmouth drops to 0-4 on the season.
Senior captain
Andrew Ballentine (Pendleton, Ind.) was voted the swimmer of the meet by his teammates after solid finishes in the 200 individual medley, 200 fly and 200 breaststroke. Ballentine took second in the IM in 2:09.76 and third in the breaststroke in 2:26.10, a lifetime best time and good for a win over Brown.
Freshman
Michael Ahern (Old Westbury, N.Y.) took second in the 200 backstroke in 2:06.96 and third in the 100 backstroke in 59.95. Sophomore
Marco Chu (Newton, Mass.) was third in the 100 butterfly in 58.92 and third in the 200 IM behind Ballentine in 2:13.21. Senior
Kevin Ellis (Centennial, Colo.) took third in the 800 freestyle in 8:34.78 and fifth in the 400 with a finish in 4:09.75.
In diving, rookie
Chris Plante (Valrico, Fla.) took fourth in the 1-meter in 264.90 and fourth in the 3-meter with 227.05 points. Sophomore
Michael Brown (Newton, Mass.) finished second in the 3-meter with 240.80 points.
Dartmouth is not back in competition again until Jan. 17 when it hosts Yale and Penn.
