HANOVER, N.H. ? Seniors Ben True (North Yarmouth, Maine) and Glenn Randall (Collbran, Colo.) finished their Dartmouth cross country careers at the 2008 NCAA Cross Country Championships in Indiana on Monday.
True finished 10,000 meters in 53rd position with a time of 30:30.8, while Randall was not far behind as he took 61st place, crossing the line at 30:34.
Oregon's Galen Rupp won the individual championship with a finish of 29:03.2, which was a full five seconds ahead of Liberty's Samuel Chelanga. Rupp's Oregon Ducks also took the team championship with 93 points, while Northeast Region representative Iona finished second with 147 points.
True finishes his Dartmouth career as one of the best cross country athletes in school and Ivy League history. He was the first runner to win three Ivy Heps titles in four years in more than a quarter century and holds the all-time Heps record after finishing the Van Cortlandt Park course in 23:59.
Randall had an excellent final season with the Big Green. He won the Dartmouth Invitational, posted a top 10 finish at NCAA regionals and a third-place run at the Keatinge Invitational. Both Randall and True were named All-Ivy after their performances at Ivy Heps.
