Big Green Embark on 8-Day Dominican Tour

In a first for the program, Big Green baseball will take part in an eight day tour of the Dominican Republic this December 11 - 18.
Competition will come in the form of the New York Mets and San Diego Padres Dominican baseball academies. Dartmouth will be taking the entire roster of 28 players on the foreign trip. In addition to the competition while there, by NCAA rules, the team has been allowed 5 extra days of practice time in preparation for the trip
The trip will begin after the Big Green finishes Final Examinations this weekend. The team will depart December 10 for Santo Domingo and begin competition on December 12 with a return the following Thursday.
The trip has been funded through team fundraising activities and private donations during the past four years. The NCAA allows each varsity team to travel internationally once every four years and Ivy League rules prohibit the use of institutional budget funds for this purpose.
Dartmouth's 2009 regular season begins February 28 ? March 1 with a three game series with ACC opponent Duke.
