HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's tennis team downed Boston University 7-0 this afternoon at the Alexis Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion. The match-up was the first for the Big Green at home this winter.
The Big Green swept the Terriers in doubles to win the doubles point, then quickly got to work in singles, winning the first set in five of the six singles matches.
At No. 1 singles freshman
Molly Scott (Trabuco Cyn, Calif.) avenged a three-set loss last fall to Francine Whu with a convincing 6-2, 6-1 win. Sophomore
Mary Beth Winingham (Carmel, Ind.) also won in straight sets at No. 3 singles, and then freshman
Georgiana Smyser (Houston, Texas) clinched the match with a straight set win at No. 6.
Senior tri-captain
Megan Zebroski (Port Washington, N.Y.) prevailed in three sets at No. 2 singles as did sophomore
Jesse Adler (Winnetka, Ill.) at No. 4. Freshman
Ryan Reichel (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) won her No. 5 match in a third set superbreaker, and
Julia Zak (Bernardsville, N.J.) won her exhibition singles match 8-3.
The Big Green are now 4-0 on the year, and play Quinnipiac University at home tomorrow, Feb. 17, at 11 a.m.
