Baseball Set to Host Columbia for the Ivy League Championship

HANOVER, N.H. ? Dartmouth baseball has earned the chance to host the Ivy League Championship Series after winning the tie-breaker with Columbia and will host the Lions in a best-of-three beginning on Saturday with a twin bill at 12 p.m. at Red Rolfe Field.

The Big Green earned home field after it was determined by the Ivy League on Monday morning. Because the teams split during the regular season it came down to each team's winning percentage against the third-best team in the league, which was Princeton. Dartmouth swept two from Princeton in the first Ivy League weekend, while the Lions split four games with the Tigers awarding home field to the Big Green.

The two teams split a doubleheader back on April 7 as Columbia defeated the Big Green 7-1 in the opening seven innings, while Dartmouth took the night, 13-6.

It will be the first time ever that the two teams whose players the divisions are named after will be facing each other for the Ivy League Championship. Columbia is coming out of the Gehrig Division, while Dartmouth is out of the Rolfe Division.

The series begins on Saturday with two nine-inning games with the first pitch coming at 12 p.m. If the teams should split those two games, there will be a game three that will start at 1 p.m. on Sunday afternoon. All three games will be played at Red Rolfe Field. There will be free admission to all fans.

Dartmouth returns home for its final regular season game against Boston College at 3 p.m. from Red Rolfe Field. The game originally scheduled for Tuesday at Hartford has been cancelled due to rain in Connecticut.
