HANOVER, N.H. ? The Dartmouth baseball team got two great pitching performances from senior co-captain Russell Young (Cleburne, Texas) and freshman Jake Pruner (Triangle, Va.) to sweep its third-straight Ivy League doubleheader with a 5-1 win in game one, followed by a 4-3 victory in the nightcap.

The Big Green remain undefeated in Ivy play as Dartmouth is 6-0 in the conference, with a 12-8 overall mark.

In game one, Young went the distance with seven innings pitched, giving only one run, while scattering eight hits. He was on his game with pinpoint control allowing no walks and striking out three.

The Big Green scored five runs on only six hits as Senior Erik Bell (Sierra Madre, Calif.), senior co-captain Damon Wright (Dallas, Texas), sophomore Nick Santomauro (North Caldwell, N.J.) and junior Johnathon Santopadre (Vacaville, Calif.) all recorded a hit, an RBI and a runs scored in the win.

After Penn scored its lone run in the first, Dartmouth answered with one of its own to knot the score at 1-1. The Big Green did a great job manufacturing a run as Bell was hit by pitch, advanced to third on a single and scored on a sacrifice fly from Wright.

Santomauro gave Dartmouth its first lead of the ballgame on a RBI single to put the Big Green on top in the bottom of the third. Wright reached on a single and after a wild pitch and a single from junior Michael Pagliarulo (Winchester, Mass.), Santomauro singled up the middle to plate Wright.

In the sixth, Dartmouth broke it open with three runs in the bottom half. The Big Green loaded the bases on walk, a fielder's choice and an error. Santomauro crossed the plate on a wild pitch and then Santopadre singled home Blydell to increase the lead to 4-1. Bell then poked one to left field, which scored Santopadre to make it 5-1.

That is all Dartmouth would need as Young earned his third win of the season and second Ivy victory.

In game two, it was Pruner and a compliment of relievers who held off Penn for the 4-3 victory. Pruner went the first six innings, allowing two runs on six hits and striking out one to earn his second Ivy League win of the season. Senior Bobby Steinsdoerfer (Crystal Lake, Ill.) and freshman Ryan Smith (Greenlawn, N.Y.) came in after Penn got a run closer and shut the door as the two combined for 2.1 innings and surrendering only two hits. Smith recorded his team-leading fourth save of the season.

The bats were quiet in game two as Dartmouth had only three hits, but scored four runs. Senior Jason McManis (Flower Mound, Texas) led the way with a hit, a run scored and an RBI.

Penn once again went on top 1-0 in the first, but Dartmouth regained the lead with three runs in the third. The Big Green got its runs thanks to patient hitting. Penn surrendered five walks and one hit batsmen in the inning. Dartmouth actually scored three runs on no hits.

McManis gave the Big Green an important fourth run in the sixth to make it 4-2 on an RBI single that scored Blydell who reached on an error while trying to bunt his way on base. Penn added its second run in the fourth inning on a sacrifice fly.

The Quakers got to within one on another sacrifice fly, but Smith came in the ninth and shut the door with two strikeouts in the inning to earn the save as Dartmouth took game two, 4-3.

Dartmouth will be back in action tomorrow for another Ivy League twin bill at Red Rolfe Field as the Big Green welcome Columbia at 12 p.m.
