Box Score
NEW HAVEN, Conn. ? Freshman
Reagan Fischer (Irma, Alta.) netted a pair of scores, while classmate Kelly
Foley (Boston, Mass.)
collected three points as the eighth-ranked Dartmouth women's hockey team defeated Yale, 5-2,
on Friday night at Ingalls rink.
For Dartmouth (10-5-2, 8-3-2
ECAC Hockey, 4-2-0 Ivy), senior co-captain Shannon Bowman (Leamington,
Ont.) and junior Sarah Parsons (Dover, Mass.) each added scores with sophomore
Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.) dishing out a couple of assists. Senior
netminder Carli Clemis (Taber, Alta.) made 28 saves between the pipes to earn
her eighth win of the season.
For Yale (7-8-0, 3-5-0 ECAC Hockey, 1-2-0 Ivy), Maggie
Westfal and Bray Ketchum led the way with a goal apiece with Ketchum also
adding an assist for a two-point night. Goaltender Jackee Snikeris made 39
stops in net, but took the loss.
Fischer got the Big Green on the board first, 4:34 into the
first period with her fourth of the season and first of the night. Freshman
Moira Scanlon (Chicago, Ill.) and Foley were credited with the
assists and for the first time this season all freshmen skaters factored in a
goal to give Dartmouth a early 1-0 lead.
The Big Green increased its lead to 2-0 on a goal from
Parsons, coming just over three minutes after the goal from Fischer. It was
also Parsons' fourth of the season with senior Maggie Kennedy (West Hartford, Conn.)
and Trunzo posting the assists.
Yale broke the ice with seven minutes remaining in the opening
frame on Westfal's second of the year with Ketchum and Helen Resor collecting
the assists.
In the second period, the Bulldogs evened the score at 2-2
after Dartmouth
was called for interference at the 13:28 mark. Yale took advantage as Ketchum
tallied the power play goal, which was her seventh score of the year. Aleca
Hughes and Danielle Kozlowski were given the assists.
Foley continued her impressive night with the eventual
game-winner midway through the period. She posted her second of the season with
junior Sarah Toupal (White Bear Lake,
Minn.) adding the assist to give
the Big Green a 3-2 lead into the final period.
Dartmouth
added to its lead twice in the third period on goals from Fischer and Bowman.
The goals were scored late in the period and just over a minute apart. For
Fischer, it was her second career two-point game, but first two-goal game. She
tallied two points in the win over Vermont
on Dec. 30.
The Big Green gave up one power play goal, but did a great
job staying out of the box throughout the game. Dartmouth landed in the penalty box only four
times to Yale's six. The Big Green had opportunities on the man advantage, but
couldn't capitalize. The two teams combined for 74 shots on goal with Dartmouth holding a 44-30
advantage.
The Big Green will be back in action tomorrow afternoon as Dartmouth travels to Brown
for a 4 p.m. face-off against the Bears.
