#21 Dartmouth Men's Soccer (8-4-1, 3-1 Ivy) This Week
Game 14: #21 Dartmouth at #16 Harvard (10-3-1, 2-1-1 Ivy)
Date: Saturday, Oct. 31, 2009 • 1:30 PM
Location: Ohiri Field • Cambridge, Mass.
Series Record: Harvard leads, 42-36-8
The Crimson holds the edge in the all-time series, but the Big Green is 7-2 in
the last nine meetings, since 2000. Five of those Dartmouth wins have come in
shutout fashion, including 1-0 victories in each of the last two seasons.
Harvard's last win was a 3-1 triumph in 2006 in Hanover. The classic Ivy
rivalry dates back to the first meeting on Dec. 2, 1916, which Harvard won,
2-1. The Big Green avenged the loss in the next contest, a 5-1 win in 1920. The
teams have played every year from that point on, except for a gap from
1942-1945. Dartmouth did not host the annual battle until 1940, a 1-1 tie.

This Time Out: #21 Dartmouth looks to snap a two-game skid with a big showdown at Ivy rival, #16 Harvard. Saturday's game could certainly have Ivy title implications as the Big Green sits tied with Brown for first place at 3-1 while Harvard is third at 2-1-1. The League remains wide open still with three games yet to play. For full Ivy standings, click here. http://www.ivyleaguesports.com/sports/standings.asp?intSID=4
Last Time Out: Dartmouth ran into a determined Columbia squad last Sunday, Oct. 25 in a homecoming matchup that was postponed from Saturday due to heavy rains. The Lions came up with two second-half goals while goalie Alexander Aurrichio made nine saves for the 2-0 win. The Big Green ultimately held a 15-10 shot advantage including 10-5 in the second half, but could not get past Aurrichio.
Where We Rank: Dartmouth remains NSCAA Coaches top-25, ranking 24th in the nation this week and seventh in the Northeast. College Soccer News has the Big Green at 21st nationally.
RPI Roundup: The NCAA's second RPI report has come out and Dartmouth stands at 32nd nationally. The RPI is a formula that plays heavily into NCAA Tournament selection and seeding, calculated based on a team's win-loss record and the records of its opponents. Dartmouth is the third-highest ranked Ivy school with Princeton (7-5-2) at 10th and Harvard (10-3-1) at 19th. Seven Ivy teams sit in the top-100 nationally, with four in the top-50 and the lowest ranked team, Cornell, at 110.
In the Record Books: Dartmouth's top scorers this season are also making their way into the program records. Craig Henderson (Wellington, New Zealand), who has 53 career points on 20 goals and 13 assists, ranks on three lists. His point total is tied for fifth all-time and he is one point out of fourth place. His 20 goals are tied for eighth all-time with seventh place at 21 and his 13 assists rank eighth. With 19 points, Daniel Keat (Wellington, New Zealand) is just one point away from ranking eighth (three players tied) on the single-season list. With 38 career points and 17 goals as just a sophomore, Lucky Mkosana is well on pace to own the Dartmouth record books. He is halfway to first place on the career goals and points lists and is currently one goal away from 10th on the career list.
Next Time Out: Dartmouth is back at Burnham Field to host Cornell on Saturday, Nov. 7 at 4:00 p.m. when it will also honor the members of the senior class. The Big Green closes out the season at Brown on Nov. 14.
