Hanover, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's swimming and diving team extended its winning streak with a 165-135 victory over Northeastern at Karl Michael Pool today.
The Huskies won the first eight events in the pool but the Big Green made up the points with solid team efforts to take second and third in all but one.
Stephanie Cobau (Whittier, Calif.) was second in the 1000 freestyle in 10:43.74, followed by teammate
Anna Sonstegard (Sioux Falls, S.D.).
Maddie Steiner (Dallas, Texas) and
Elizabeth Kamai (Corte Madera, Calif.) finished second and third in the 200 freesyle while
Galen Barry (Wayne, Pa.) and
Hillary Preston (Medina, Wash.) were second and third in the 100 backdtroke.
Senior
Heather Jankins (Raynham, Pa.) represented the Big Green with second-place finishes in the 100 breakstroke in 1:09.26 and the 50 freestyle in 24.85.
Virginia Selden (Birmingham, Ala.) was second in the 200 butterfly in 2:08.82, followed closely by Sonstegard. Kamai delivered the Big Green's first victory on the day with a win in the 100 freestyle in 53:59 and Barry followed that with a first place finish in the 200 backstroke in 2:09.53. Cobau came up big in the 500 freestyle in 5:10.26 while Steiner was the top finisher in the 200 breaststroke, taking second in 2:30.40.
Kelsey Pinson (Portland, Ore.) took first in the 100 butterfly in 58.97 ahead of a pair of Northeastern swimmers. Dartmouth picked up a pair of relay wins as the team of Barry, Jankins,
Caitlin Nicholson (Ithaca, N.Y.) and Kamai won the 400 medley relay in 4:00.34. Nicholson and Kamai helped ice the win with another relay victory, joined by Steiner and Preston to win the 400 freestyle relay in 3:36.95.
The Big Green swept the three meter and one meter diving events. Kat Brady (Upland, Calif.),
Erica Serpico (Moorestown, N.J.) and
Kelly O'Callaghan (Rye, N.Y.) finished first through third, respectively in the three meter before Serpico and Brady traded place for a one-two finish in the one meter, with O'Callaghan taking third.
Dartmouth is back in action next Saturday when it hosts Ivy foe Columbia at 12 p.m.
