HANOVER, N.H. ? Sophomore Molly Scott (Trabuco Cyn, Calif.) knocked off the country's No. 69 player and junior tri-captain Mary Beth Winingham (Carmel, Ind.) nearly beat the No. 108 player as Dartmouth fell to Boston College 6-1 today at the Boss Tennis Center and Gordon Pavilion.
Scott downed senior Lana Krasnopolsky 4-6, 6-2, 10-4, while Winingham was edged at No. 2 by senior Lauren Cash 7-5, 4-6, 13-11. Dartmouth falls to 0-4 with the loss, while Boston College improves to 3-1.
Scott and Winingham, who are now 3-1 at No. 1 doubles, got the lone doubles victory for Dartmouth as the Eagles took the point. In singles junior tri-captain Jesse Adler (Winnetka, Ill.) fell at No. 3 to BC's tough Canadian freshman Katarina Gajic.
Sophomore Georgiana Smyser (Houston, Texas) lost in straight sets at No. 4 to Katharine Attwell, who was a top USTA/ETA junior player. Junior Carley Markovitz (South Pasadena, Calif.) was defeated 6-1, 6-4 at No. 5 by BC's former No. 1-2 singles player, Dasha Cherkasov, while freshman Carissa King (Charlotte, N.C.) fell in straight sets at No. 6 to senior Alina Sullivan, who has played as high as No. 3 for the Eagles.
Dartmouth returns to action on Friday when the Big Green hosts the ECAC Championships, which is a three-day event at the Boss Tennis Center.
