HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team will look to end its four-game skid as the Big Green open the 2009 Ivy League schedule this Saturday at 1 p.m. against Brown at Scully-Fahey Field.
Admission to Saturday's matchup between the Bears and Big Green starts at $6 for adults and $3 for children under the age of 14. Tickets can be purchased one hour prior to game time outside Scully-Fahey Field.
THIS TIME OUT
The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team is back in action after its two-week break for finals as the Big Green opens its 2009 Ivy League season against Brown today at Scully-Fahey field. Brown enters this afternoon's game as the 12th-ranked team in the nation with a 4-1 mark so far this year.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green dropped their fourth-straight contest as Dartmouth fell against Lehigh, 11-9, on Saturday, March 7. The Big Green had six players score goals in the contest, led by senior Jimmy Mullen, freshman John DeChiaro and sophomore Joshua Etzion with two apiece. Senior Pat Marshall made nine saves in the losing effort.
NEXT UP
Dartmouth hits the road for its next three contests, beginning with a visit to Holy Cross this coming Tuesday at 6:30 p.m. in Worcester. Following the matchup with the Crusaders, the Big Green heads to Stony Brook to face-off against nationally-ranked Duke in a neutral game. The final contest away from its home field, Dartmouth travels to Penn for its first Ivy game on the road.
IVY OPENING WEEKEND
The Big Green open their Ivy League season this afternoon against Brown. Under head coach, Bill Wilson Dartmouth is 3-2 in its first conference game of the season. The last win by the Big Green came in 2007 in a four-overtime thriller at Brown with Dartmouth prevailing 9-8. This will be the third-straight matchup between the Big Green and the Bears in the first Ivy game.
SCOUTING THE BEARS
Brown travels north to Hanover with a 4-1 mark so far this season. The Bears have earned wins over Lehigh, Quinnipiac, Denver and No. 13 UMass. Their lone loss came against No. 12 Hofstra. Brown is led by Andrew Feinberg who is tops with 12 goals and 20 points this year. He has also collected eight assists and 10 ground balls. Three of his 12 goals have come on man-up opportunities. Kyle Hollingsworth has chipped in with six goals and a team-high nine assists for 15 points. He leads the team with two game-winners and has also posted a man-up and man-down goal this season. Joel Tracy has been the main face-off man for the Bears, earning 20 wins on 24 chances, while Nic Bell has contributed with 17 face-off wins as well. Goaltender Jordan Burke has started all five games and has a 4-1 record. He ranks sixth in the conference with an 8.64 goals against average and is fourth in save percentage at .589.
SERIES HISTORY
This is the 54th meeting between these two Ivy League schools with Brown holding a 33-20 advantage in the series. The Bears won last season to end Dartmouth's three-game winning streak against Brown. The teams first met in 1926 with Brown coming away with a 4-3 win.
