HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team jumps back into Ivy play this Saturday as the Big Green hosts league-leading Cornell at 1 p.m. at Sully-Fahey Field.
With the Ivy League matchup, Dartmouth will be charging admission for fans. Tickets are $6 for adults and $3 for children 14 and under and they will be available one hour prior to game time outside Scully-Fahey Field.
THIS TIME OUT
The Big Green jumps back into Ivy League play today as Dartmouth welcomes No. 3 Cornell to Scully-Fahey Field. This will be the third meeting that the Big Green has had against a ranked opponent after playing No. 18 Brown on March 21 and No. 9 Notre Dame on March 28. The Big Red march into Hanover with a 7-2 record and a 3-0 mark in conference play. Dartmouth enters Saturday's showdown with a 3-7 overall record and looking for its first Ivy win after dropping its first two of the year.
LAST TIME OUT
Dartmouth netted five second half goals to break away from a 3-3 tie with Providence earning an 8-4 win over the Friars in non-conference action on Tuesday afternoon. The Big Green got a great effort from senior captain Brian Koch as he tallied a game-high four goals to go along with an assist for five points on the afternoon. Sophomore Jack Steele had his best game in a Big Green uniform with a career-high two goals, while junior Josh Gillam chipped in with a goal and three assists for four points. Senior Kyle Lagratta owned the face-off X against Providence, winning 12-of-15 face-offs, which led to break outs for Dartmouth. Freshman Fergus Campbell earned his second win of the season with five saves. It was the first time since he became the Big Green's starter in net that he didn't have to push aside at least 13 shots.
HOME KOCH-ING
Senior captain Brian Koch has a total of 17 goals and three assists for 20 points so far this season. In just four home games he has registered 10 goals and two assists for 12 points. In the home opener against Bryant he netted a season-high five goals in the loss and led the Big Green to its first home victory of the year on Tuesday with four goals and an assist for five points in the 8-4 win over Providence. He also leads the team with six man-up goals, two of which came against the Friars. With the 20 points this season, Koch in inching closer to making the top-10 list for Dartmouth's all-time leading scorers. He currently has 140 points in his career, which is two behind Scott Hapgood '97 at No. 10. He has jumped to No. 7 all-time in goals with 94 in his career which ties him with Brian Merritt '97.
FAMILY REUNION
Senior captain Jon Livadas will be welcoming his brother Chris Livadas to Hanover as Chris is a sophomore long-stick midfielder for the Big Red. The two both played at the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey. Chris has played in eight games with five starts for Cornell, while brother Jon has been sidelined with an injury this season for the Big Green. Jon is the only player on the Big Green that has a brother that plays Division I lacrosse.
SCOUTING THE BIG RED
Cornell is led by freshman Rob Pannell who has 38 points on 12 goals and A league-leading 26 assists. He is tops in the Ivy League in assists per game and points per game. Junior Ryan Hurley is the team's top goal scorer with a league-high 31 goals, which is an average of 3.44 per game. He has also added five assists for 36 points. Five of the 31 goals have come on the man advantage. Senior Max Seibald is second on the team with 29 goals and is third in points with 25. At the X, senior John Glynn has a .597 winning percentage with 71 wins in 190 face-offs. In the crease, senior Kyle Harer has appeared in eight games with seven starts and has a record of 6-1 this season. He has made 66 saves this year and has a .516 save percentage and a 8.80 goals against average.
SERIES HISTORY
Dartmouth and Cornell will be matching up for the 59th time in the history of the two programs with the Big Red holding a commanding 44-14 lead in the series. The schools first played each other back in 1946 with Cornell coming away with an 8-7 win in Ithaca. The last timE Dartmouth beat the Big Red was back in 1997 with a 12-8 win in Hanover. Since then Cornell has reeled off 11-straight wins.
