PROVIDENCE, R.I. ? Senior Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Mass.) and junior Dave Putney (Unionville, Conn.) finished three shots behind the medalists at the 2009 New England Division I Championships. Both recorded scores of 113 in the 27-hole tournament, tying for seventh overall.
As a team, Dartmouth came in seventh place with a score of 463.
With his first round score of 74, Putney was two strokes behind off the lead entering the second round. His final-round score of 39 was just four shots over par, but he could not move up the leader board. Henley made up two shots on the leaders with his score of 36 on the second day.
Freshman Pete Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) tied for 16th overall with his tournament score of 115 (77-38). Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.) finished fourth for the Green with a score of 124 (80-44) while Ryan Choi (Carlsbad, Calif.) completed the Dartmouth team, shooting 127 (85-42).
Sacred Heart claimed the team title with a total of 446, six strokes ahead of Binghamton.
Four players tied for the individual title. Sacred Heart claimed two of the players with Pat Fillian, who was in the lead after the first day, and David Resnski recording scores of 110. Jake Katz of Binghamton and Jason Thresher of Bryant equaled them to take a share in the win.
Dartmouth will be back in Rhode Island April 17 for the Northeast Invitational, hosted by the University of Rhode Island.
