DERBY, Conn. ? Amidst a light rain and a moderate current, Dartmouth could not record a win against Yale as the Bulldogs claimed the 2000-meter Olympic Axe Saturday.
The Big Green was edged in the Varsity Eight race by two-and-a-half seconds, crossing the finish line in 5:42.9 to Yale's 5:39.4.
The Bulldogs won the Second Varsity Eight and Third Varsity Eight races handily. In the Second Varsity Eight race, Yale came in with a time of 5:45.8 while Dartmouth finished in 5:57.4. Yale easily won as the Third Varsity Eight won their race in a time of 5:51.3, beating Dartmouth's time of 6:14.8.
The Big Green Novice Eight gave the Bulldogs a close race but fell short, crossing the finish line with a time of 5:43.6 to Yale's time of 5:41.1
Dartmouth will host the Bill Cup versus Boston University and Rutgers April 25 at 9:00 am.
