Brown Claims Sixth Consecutive Atalanta Cup in Sweep of Big Green Heavyweights

HANOVER, N.H. ? Brown won their 25th Atalanta Cup, including the last six, with a nine-second win over Dartmouth Saturday. The Bears also won each of the other three races en route to a clean sweep of the Big Green.
With a strong tail current and a headwind, Brown won the Varsity Eight race with a time of 5:33.05 to Dartmouth's 5:42.72.
The Freshman Eight race was the closest of the day. Brown's first boat crossed the finish ahead of the Big Green boat by four seconds, 5:39.71 to 5:44.22. The Bears also had a boat finish in 6:07.59 in the race.
Brown cruised to the Second and Third Varsity races. The Bears won the Third Varsity race by 20 second, crossing the finish in a time of 5:49.62 and Dartmouth at 6:09.49. The Bears followed that performance up with a win in the Second Varsity race in a time of 5:32.73, 29 seconds ahead of Dartmouth's time of 6:00.39.
The Big Green will return to the water May 2 at the Charles River with races against Harvard and Northeastern.
