Pete Williamson (Hanover, N.H.) sank seven birdies on his way to a first-round score of 69, three-strokes under par. He is in a three-way tie for second place, one shot behind Clark Granum of Columbia.
Columbia (291), Yale (292) and Dartmouth (293) are all within two strokes of each other for second place on the team leader board after the first day. Penn leads with a score of 285.
Seniors
Alex Abate (Augusta, Ga.) and
Rob Henley (Longmeadow, Mass.) each recorded rounds 74, two-over par, to put them in 15th place.
Davis Mullany (Great Barrington, Mass.) is two strokes behind his teammates with a 76 on the first 18 holes.
Dave Putney (Unionville, Conn.) ended his first day with a score of 81.
