vs. San Diego
vs. Loyola Marymount
This Time Out: #5 Dartmouth (3-0-1)heads to sunny California for a weekend at the University of San Diego Nike Classic. The Toreros play host to a star-studded field that includes top-25 teams #5 Dartmouth, #15 Michigan State and #18 Loyola Marymount. Dartmouth faces two west coast teams in USD and LMU in what should prove a good early season barometer. Through the first four games, 380 minutes, Dartmouth has yet to allow a goal this season.
Last Time Out: Dartmouth remained unbeaten with a 0-0 double overtime tie against #18 UConn and a 2-0 win over Rhode Island to win its own Nike Hypertherm Classic. Despite the draw with UConn, Dartmouth looked sharp against the perennial Big East and national power, dominating both shots, 17-10, and corner kicks, 12-3. The Big Green showed its depth in the win over Rhode Island with 19 players seeing action and just three everyday starters in the starting lineup. Junior Daniel Keat (Wellington, New Zealand) scored both goals in the win.
Rookie of the Week: Sean Donovan (Burr Ridge, Ill.) is the second straight Big Green freshman to be honored as Ivy Rookie of the Week as classmate Kevin Dzierzawski (Oakland Twp., Mich.) picked up the honor last week. Donovan backstopped Dartmouth in its scoreless double-overtime tie with UConn. In his second career start and shutout, Donovan did not miss a beat, controlling the defense as the Big Green shutout the Huskies. He made two saves in goal and used his 6-3 frame to pick off numerous UConn crosses and clear three corner kicks.
Where We Rank: A pair of independent publications put the Big Green in the national top-10, with Soccer America ranking Dartmouth fifth nationally and College Soccer News tabbing the team ninth. Dartmouth has cracked the top-10, sitting tenth in the NSCAA coaches national poll and third in Northeast.
Next Time Out: Dartmouth is back on the East coast for a pair of non-conference matchups, first at Hartwick in Sept. 26 and then home against archrival Vermont on Sept. 30 at 6 p.m. Despite the Big Green's tremendous student section having not been on campus for the first four games, the team still drew 1000+ fans per game.
