AMHERST & WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The Dartmouth men's squash team picked up a pair of wins on Sunday, defeating Amherst, 8-1 and then Wiliams, 5-4. The wins give the Big Green a 5-3 overall record this season.
Against Amherst, Dartmouth did not have an easy match against the home team. The Big Green defeated the Jeffs 3-0 in the first eight completed matches and in seven of those 24 games Amherst was only able to manage three points or fewer. The Jeffs scored six or more points in seven of the 24 games as well.
In the No. 3 match in front of a crowd that stood three deep around the court, Dartmouth rookie Robbie Maycock (Devonshire, Bermuda) was bested in the first game, 11-8 but he rallied to win the second game by the same score over Brian Warner. Warner gutted out a 13-11 win in the third frame before pulling out an 11-6 victory in the fourth and final set.
The Big Green went 3-0 in the rest of its matches as Dartmouth won its fourth game of the season.

Against Williams in a very exciting match, the Big Green came out and won the first four matches of the day. At No. 6 Brian O'Toole (Short Hills, N.J.) took a close one over Nick Marks. O'Toole won the first two games but Marks abruptly turned it around to take the third, 11-2. With continued momentum Marks took the fourth, 11-5. O'Toole however showed determination and stormed back to win the fifth game and the match, 11-4.
In Maycock's match, the rookie won the first but battled hard with Christian Henze in the second game with Maycock squeaking out a 14-12 win in overtime. Henze was able to keep up the pressure in the third and won with impressive hustle and shot making. Maycock had a great fourth game and squelched Henze's momentum to take the match.
Down 2-1 in the match, the Ephs stormed back. Jeremy Herrmann defeated Ted Schroeder (Wynnewood, Pa.) in five games, Julian Drobetsky beat Michael Shrubb (Devonshire, Bermuda) in straight sets. Chris Hanson won at No. 2 three games. With the match tied at 3-3 it came down to the No. 7, 4 and 1 spots. Luke Lee (Exeter, N.H.) was victorious in the first game of his match but Bernard Yaros bounced back to win the next three games convincingly and put the match in the hands of Nick Sisodia (Chicago, Ill.) and Michael Lewis (Santa Barbara, Calif.), both of whom won to give Dartmouth the victory.
