AMHERST & WILLIAMSTOWN, Mass. - The ninth-ranked Dartmouth women's squash team traveled to Massachusetts for a pair of matches against Amherst and Williams College on Sunday. The Big Green came out on top 9-0 over Amherst but dropped a narrow contest, 5-4 to Williams.
In the No. 1 spot Valeria Wiens (Hanover, N.H.) took on Hayley Milbourn in the top women's match. The 18th-ranked
individual in the nation, Weins proved to be too much for the
102nd-ranked Milbourn. Milbourn got better as the match went on
against Weins, taking seven points off Dartmouth's top player in the third
and final game.
In the number two match, Corey Schafer (Natick, Mass.) was taken to 13-11 in the
first game by Chandler Lusardi. Shafer narrowly won the second, 11-7, before Lusardi was forced to
retire with an injury in the third game.

In the match against Williams, the Ephs took wins at the No. 3, 6 and 9 spots to start the match off, each with four-game victories. Rebecca Lau (Toronoto, Ont.) won her first game 11-6 but her opponent Courtney Bogle charged
ahead winning the next three games at No. 3.
Maura Doherty won the second game to tie up the match against Caroline Henry but Henry rallied to defeat Doherty, 11-6, 11-4 in the next two.
With Williams up 3-0 in the match, the Big Green lost at No. 2 as the Ephs went up 4-0. At No. 5,
Libbey Brown lost the first game but rallied to win the next three by a score of
11-8, each. Williams freshman Hannah Kaemmer also could not close, going up
match ball in the fourth game, before losing six consecutive points
to a determined
Julia Watson (Rocky Mount, N.C.), as Watson was victorious in the final game by a
score of 11-8.
With the match
score at 4-2, the Ephs needed one more victory in the final three
matches in order to defeat the Big Green. However
Sarah Loucks (Boston, Mass.) kept Dartmouth in by taking a three-game win at No. 7 while
Hannah Conant (Philadelphia, Pa.) dropped the first game to Laura
Henry and then took the the next
three games. With the match tied at 4-4, the No. 1 match became very important at the Eph's fourth-ranked Toby Eyre came from one-game deficit to Wiens and win the deciding match for the Ephs.
