Dartmouth Women's Squash Splits Over the Weekend

HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's squash team had two matches over the weekend. The Big Green dropped a league match to Cornell, 7-2 on Saturday but rebounded with a 9-0 win over Middlebury on Sunday.

Against the Big Red, Dartmouth's Valieria Wiens (Hanover, N.H.) and Corey Schafer (Natick, Mass.) were both winners at No. 1 and No. 2. Wiens improved to 3-4 with her victory. She won the first game easily but dropped the second in a close game. She got it together and took the next two. Schafer earned her fourth win of the season against Jennifer Gemmell. She lost the first game but came back to win the next three in close fashion. Dartmouth kept things tight with five spots going to five games.

On Sunday it was a different story as the Big Green won easily, 9-0 over Middlebury. Only one spot went to four games as every other spot was able to win in three. Libbey Brown (Lutherville, Md.) who went to five games against Cornell won easily over her Middlebury opponent while Sarah Loucks (Boston, Mass.) won her fourth match of the year.

The Big Green will be back in action on Jan. 30 with a match against Stanford that will be played at Williams College.
