Men's Cross Country Finish 12th at NCAA Pre-Meet

TERRE HAUTE, IND. - Phil Royer (Portsmouth, R.I.) led the Dartmouth men's cross country team to a 12th place finish at the Pre-Nationals NCAA meet on Saturday at Indiana State. The sophomore finished 36th overall (24:16.6), and the Big Green bested several high profile schools, including Ohio State (13th), Illinois (15th) and Michigan State (18th).
Royer was helped by several of his teammates. Junior Ethan Shaw (Falmouth, Maine) placed 47th with a time of 24:25.4. The rest of the scoring from Dartmouth came from Brad Kenimer (Alexandria, Va.) with a time of 24:52.6, Tom Robbins (Evanston, Ill.) finished at 24:56.1 and Jonathan Gault (Bedford, Mass.) crpssed the finish line at 24:59.7.
Stanford won the event with 43 points, Iona finished in second (127 points) and Florida State took third at 154 points. Chris Derrick of Stanford finished first overall with a time of 23:16.9.
The Big Green are back in action on Sunday, October 24, at the Mayor's Cup in Boston, Mass.
