HAMDEN, CONN. — On the heels of a hat trick and game-winning goal against Princeton on Friday, sophomore Sasha Nanji (Markham, Ont.) scored two more points and had the overtime game-winning goal in a 4-3 victory at Quinnipiac on Saturday. The defenseman's goal occurred 1:04 into overtime off assists from Camille Dumais (Beaconsfield, Que.) and Amanda Trunzo (Andover, Minn.). For Trunzo, who scored a goal earlier in the contest, it marked her 100th career point, becoming the 32nd player in the history of the program to reach the plateau. The win improved Dartmouth to 5-1-0 overall and 5-1-0 in the ECAC. Quinnipiac fell top 8-5-1 overall and 3-4-0 in the conference.
The first period had plenty of fireworks with each team netting two goals. The Bobcats struck first in the sixth minute on a power play goal by Kelly Babstock. The Big Green responded on Kelly Foley's (Boston, Mass.) third goal of the year. Dartmouth pushed out to a 2-1 lead at the 14:06 mark when Dumais scored her third goal of the season. Sophomore Sally Komarek (Minneapolis, Minn.) and Nanji assisted on the goal. Quinnipiac evened things up on Babstock's second goal of the night just over two minutes later.
In the second period, Dartmouth regained a one-goal advantage on a power play goal by Trunzo. Freshman Lauren Kelly (Milton, Ont.) and Margaux Sharp (Carleton Place, Ont.) assisted on the goal. Unfortunately for the Big Green, Babstock was up for the challenge. The forward tallied her second hat trick in as many nights when she tied the game with 1:38 remaining in the second period. She has 13 goals on the season.
For all the scoring in the first two periods, neither team scored in the third frame. In overtime, the Bobcats' Amanda Colin was called for tripping and Nanji took advantage of the extra skater. Nanji ended the contest 15 seconds into the power play for her sixth goal of the year. She currently leads the team in points with nine on the season.
Sophomore Whitney Woodcox (Oshawa, Ont.) earned the victory in net, making 16 saves. The Big Green outshot the Bobcats, 26-19, and committed four penalties to Quinnipiac's five.
Dartmouth has a quick turnaround, hosting Providence on Tuesday, November 16, at 7 p.m.
