HANOVER, N.H. - The Dartmouth women's tennis team downed St. John's University, 6-1, at the Boss Tennis Center today to extend its winning streak to five.
Freshmen Sarah Leonard (Norwalk, Conn.) and Christina Danosi (New Albany, Ohio) both won easily at No. 1 and No. 6 singles, seniors Mary Beth Winingham (Carmel, Ohio) and Jesse Adler (Winnetka, Ill.) won tough matches at No. 2 and No. 3, and junior Ryan Reichel (Hilton Head Island, S.C.) won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5. Fellow junior Georgiana Smyser (Houston, Texas) was edged in a third set super-breaker at No. 4 singles after a hard-fought match with Ece Firat of Turkey.
The Big Green swept the doubles point, as Winingham and junior Molly Scott (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) won 8-1 to remained undefeated at No. 1. Leonard combined with sophomore Carissa King (Charlotte, N.C.) to win 8-0 at No. 2 doubles. Smyser and Adler also won easily at No. 3.
Dartmouth returns to action on Friday, Feb. 12, at the ECAC Championships at Harvard.
