SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - Junior Molly Scott (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) got the lone win as the No. 38 Dartmouth women's tennis team dropped a tough 6-1 decision to Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo on Saturday.
The Big Green is now 11-2 on the season and the Mustangs, who recently defeated No. 75 UC-Santa Barbara, are 10-2.
Scott dropped her first set, but fired back with wins in the last two to take the only victory. Junior Geogiana Smyser (Houston, Texas) went the distance at the No. 5 spot. She fell in the first set and came back in the second to tie the match, but came up short in the final set at 6-4. Smyser and senior captain Jesse Adler (Winnetka, Ill.) had the best match at No. 3 doubles as the pair took their match to a tie-breaker. The duo lost to Cal Poly in a close 9-8 match and fell in the tie-breaker 7-5.
