PRINCETON, NJ - In a battle of the Ivy League's only two undefeated teams this afternoon, No. 28 Princeton University avenged its ECAC Indoor Championship loss to Dartmouth by besting the No. 48 Big Green women's tennis team 6-1.Dartmouth is now 16-3 (3-1 Ivy League), while the Tigers move to 18-5 (5-0 Ivy League).
Senior Mary Beth Winingham (Carmel, Ind.) was 2-0 for the afternoon, winning at No. 1 doubles with junior Molly Scott (Trabuco Canyon, Calif.) and at No. 3 singles. Winingham and Scott edged the country?s No. 19 team of Hilary Bartlett and Taylor Marable 8-7 to win the lone doubles match for Dartmouth. This was the Princeton tandem's first Ivy loss. And in singles Winingham bested Rachel Saiontz in thrilling fashion in a third set superbreaker.
Dartmouth is back in Hanover next weekend on Friday, April 16 at the Boss Tennis Center.
