HANOVER, N.H. — The brackets for the 16 NCAA Baseball Regionals were announced this afternoon, and the Dartmouth Big Green (26-17) were placed in the Coral Gables Regional as the fourth seed along with Texas A&M (40-19-1) as the second seed, Florida International (36-23) as the third seed and the host Hurricanes (40-17) as the top seed.
All of the games at the Miami Regional are being televised by ESPNU. The Dartmouth game against Miami will begin on Friday, June 4 at 4 p.m. (EDT), while the Aggies and Florida International will square off at noon.
"The Miami area is crazy for its baseball," said head coach Bob Whalen. "The atmosphere will be electric and will make for an experience our team will never forget. Having played in a regional last year, our guys will be well prepared to handle the environment and focus on winning games."
Dartmouth earned an automatic bid to the NCAA Regionals for the second consecutive year by virtue of winning the Ivy League Championship. Both Texas A&M and the Panthers won their respective conference tournaments as well to receive automatic bids, while 11th-ranked Miami made the field as an at-large participant for a record 38th consecutive year.
The Big Green have never played either Texas A&M or Florida International, but do have a 1-2 record against the Hurricanes. All three games were played in Coral Gables in March 2000 with Dartmouth winning the first game, 6-5, and Miami taking the last two, 10-8 and 6-1.
Ticket packages for the entire Coral Gables Regional are $90 for field box, $60 for chairback, $45 for adult general admission and $30 for youth, seniors and students. Those packages will go on sale at 9 a.m. on Tuesday. Single day passes will go on sale at a later time this week.
The University of Miami and the ticket office are closed for Memorial Day on Monday but normal hours will resume on Tuesday, June 1. To order tickets, either visit the University of Miami website (www.hurricanesports.com) or call 305-284-CANE or 1-800-GO-CANES. The UM ticket office will be open Tuesday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m.
