HANOVER, NH - Senior captain Ari Sussman (New Haven, Conn.) was taken by the Chicago Machine in the sixth round, while senior Robby Pride (Denver, Colo.) went in the eighth round to his hometown Denver Outlaws.
The draft consisted of only eight rounds and 48 picks. Sussman went 38th overall and Pride was picked at the 47th spot. Duke's Ned Crotty was selected as the top player overall and went to the Machine.
Sussman finished off his Dartmouth career with second team honors both from the Ivy League and All-New England after a 44-point season on 25 goals and 19 assists. Sussman ended up with 163 career points, which ranks him fifth all-time in Big Green history. His 97 goals are eighth and his 66 helpers put him sixth. He was one of only two players in the 84-year history of the lacrosse program to rank in the top-10 in goals, assists and points.
The Dartmouth attackman scored in 12 of the 13 games this season, including an 11-game scoring streak to start the season. He put multi-points on the board in 10 games, including a career-high seven points on five goals and two assists at Vermont. He collected six points in the next game versus Penn with a goal and five assists and was named the Turfer New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association Player of the Week after 13 points in two games. Sussman started the year with three-straight games with five points and two of those games came with three goals and two assists.
Pride was a defensive midfielder for the Big Green and played in 10 games with three starts after joining the team following basketball season. He grabbed 22 ground balls and caused seven turnovers for Dartmouth. The 22 ground balls was five off of his career best, which came as a sophomore and in his first season in lacrosse after being recruited to play basketball for the Big Green. This season, he posted a career-high nine penalties for 6.5 minutes in the box.
Major League Lacrosse is in its fifth week of action this season and the Chicago Machine and Denver Outlaws are in first place with a 3-1 record, which is also tied with the Chesapeake Bayhawks.
