HANOVER, N.H. – The Dartmouth women's volleyball team is looking to improve on its 3-0 record when it travels to Quinnipiac this weekend. The Big Green was co-Champions of the Sacred Heart Invite last weekend to start the season.
Madeline Baird (Austin, Texas) racked up a team-high 38 kills last weekend, while Kendall Houston (Austin, Texas) was named Ivy League Player of the Week after compiling 104 assists, nine blocks and three service aces, all team-highs. Amber Bryant (Libertyville, Ill.) recorded a team-best 51 digs and is averaging almost 5.00 a game. Thanks to their play, Baird, Houston and Bryant were name All-Tournament with Houston taking home co-MVP honors.
The Big Green started the season off with a 3-0 victory over Jacksonville (25-15,25-17,25-17) before taking back-to-back 3-1 wins over Binghamton (25-19,24-26,25-22,25-15) and Lehigh (18-25,25-21,25-22,25-18).
With three away tournaments to start 2010, Dartmouth will not be home until Sept. 24 and 28 when Harvard and Providence come to town.

Dartmouth and Hartford first met on Oct. 31, 1992 when the Hawks took a 3-0 win. Hartford won the first three meetings, all at neutral sites before the Big Green won in 1997. Dartmouth won four straight before Hartford got one back but the Big Green is on a two-game win streak after taking a 3-2 win in 2006 and a 3-0 win in 2007.
After falling in its first seven matches, Hartford (1-7) picked up a five-set win, Tuesday at Holy Cross. Kami Nethersole has compiled a team-best 85 kills, while Lindsay Ford has registered 229 assists and a team-high seven service aces. Danielle Etta leads six Hawks with at least 50 digs with 95. Sydney Scott has also contributed 16 blocks.

The first meeting between these two squads came on Oct. 23, 1998. All of Dartmouth's wins have been by a 3-0 score. The lone victory by the Bobcats was a 3-2 contest on Sept. 21, 2002. These two last met in 2007.
Last weekend at the Yale Invitational, the Bobcats lost matches to Yale, Stony Brook and Rhode Island. After finishing the three-match tournament with 12 kills and 28 digs, Logan Riker was named to the All-Tournament Team. Amanda Armstrong is the team leader with 44 kills while Kayla Lawler has a team-high 142 assists.
vs. St. Peter's (3-4)

This will be just the third meeting between Dartmouth and St. Peter's. The two sides met for the first time on Sept. 8, 1995 when the Big Green defeated the Peahens, 3-1. The last meeting for the two came on Sept. 18, 2004 when Dartmouth won, 4-0.
St. Peter's has had all three of its victories come against Northeast Conference opponents (Fairleigh Dickinson, St. Francis (N.Y.) twice). Stephanie Phillips' 91 kills pace the Peahens, while Shannon Doheny has registered team highs of 155 assists and 15 service aces. Katie McFadden has compiled 137 digs, while Kassi Wirth's 28 blocks lead St. Peter's.
