NEW YORK, N.Y. — On the first day of the Ivy Heptagonal Championships in New York, N.Y., the Dartmouth women's track and field team had one individual champion and are in third place after five events. Princeton leads with 54 points, Columbia is second with 27 points and the Big Green are third with 22 points.
Dartmouth picked up 18 points in the Pentathlon by having the first and second place finishers. Freshman Janae Dunchack (Northern Cambria, Pa.) earned a championship in her first time at Heps. She scored 3622 points and beat her teammate, junior Priscilla Trojano (W. Bridgewater, Mass.), who took second with 3420 points. Trojano won the event last year.
The other point scorer for the Big Green was freshman Caitie Meyer (Weston, Mass.). She took fourth in the 5000 meters, crossing the finish line at 16:34.47.
The championships conclude on Sunday.
