PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Dartmouth men's squash team won its first Ivy League match of the season by taking a 6-3 match over Penn on Sunday afternoon. The Big Green got wins at No. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 9 on the ladder. Seven of the nine matches had to go to more than three games.
At No. 1 Chris Hanson (Greenwich, Conn.) was victorious for the tenth time this season with a 3-1 win over Thomas Mattsson. Hanson lost the first but rallied to win the next three. At No. 2 Nick Sisodia (Chicago, Ill.) won the first two before allowing Dan Greenberg to take the third. Sisodia won the match by winning game four.
Chris Jung (Seattle, Wash.) at No. 3 had a battle on his hands as James Clark took the Big Green freshman to five games before Jung was able to prevail and take the win. Robbie Maycock (Devonshire, Bermuda) had a rather easy time of it, winning in three games.
Michael Lewis (Santa Barbara, Calif.) lost his first two games at No. 5 but he came from behind to win the next three and take the 3-2 win. Alex Kurth (Tenafly, N.J.) helped wrap up the win for Dartmouth at No. 9 by taking a hard-fought match over Justin Ang.
The Big Green will be back in action on Saturday, Feb. 12 traveling to Middlebury to start the day before coming home to host Brown in the afternoon.
