HANOVER, N.H. — The Dartmouth men's lacrosse team lost its second consecutive game against a ranked opponent on Tuesday, losing to sixth-ranked North Carolina, 12-7. The loss followed the 18-10 loss to seventh-ranked Duke on Sunday.
The Big Green don't get a break, hosting 17th-ranked Harvard on Saturday for their third straight game against a ranked team.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth enters the game against Harvard with a 3-3 record but are 0-1 at home this season. It is the Ivy opener for the Big Green, and begins a stretch of three straight Ivy contests.
Dartmouth has six players who have recorded double-digit points through six games. Junior co-captain Kip Dooley (Minneapolis, Minn.) leads the team with 17 points on six goals and a team-high 11 assists. Freshman Jeff Perkins (Dallas, Texas) is second on the squad with 14 points on a team-best 12 goals and two assists. Two players are tied for third with 13 points. Senior captain Rhett Miller (Dallas, Texas) has nine goals and four assists and sophomore Nikki Dysenchuk (Darien, Conn.) has seven goals and six assists. Junior Drew Tunney (Greenwich, Conn.) is fifth on the team with 12 points on 11 goals and one assist. Junior John DeChiaro (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) is sixth with 11 points on four goals and seven assists.
In net, junior Fergus Campbell (New Canaan, Conn.) has started all six games and has an 11.33 goals against average, a 3-3 record and a .465 save percentage. In 322:58 minutes, he has made 53 saves, including 17 in the win at Sacred Heart.
The team is averaging 11.17 goals per game, while allowing 11.17. The Big Green take 39.8 shots per game and grab 30.83 ground balls per game. Dartmouth is 7-for-20 in man-up situations for a 35.0 percent conversion rate.
EVERY-GAME SCORERS
Dooley continued his streak of scoring in every game the Big Green has played this season. He now has 17 points on six goals and 11 assists. His season high was five points at Holy Cross on two goals and three assists.
The only other Dartmouth player to score in every game he has played in is Tunney. He sat out the first two games, but has 12 points in the four games he has played this year.
FAMILIAR FACE
In the game against Duke on Sunday, it was a family affair for freshman Brendan Rotanz (Westport, Conn.). Rotanz's older brother, Rob, is a junior midfielder for the Blue Devils.
In the game, Rob Rotanz scored two goals and Brendan Rotanz took two shots.
NATIONAL LEADERS
The Big Green have a couple of players who are among the national leaders through their first five games. Perkins is tied for second in goals per game at 3.00. Davey Emala of Georgetown leads the nation at 3.17 goals per game. Perkins is also second in shot percentage at .706. Deron Dempster of Yale is in the top spot with a .733 shot percentage.
Dooley is tied for fourth in assists per game at 2.00. Jeremy Boltus of Army leads the nation at 3.00 assists per game. The Big Green as a team are seventh in points per game (19.6) and are eighth in scoring offense (12.0).
SCOUTING THE CRIMSON
Harvard enters Saturday game with a 5-1 record and have won four consecutive games. It will be the second Ivy League game for the Crimson who won at Brown on March 19, 11-7. The only loss Harvard has suffered this season was at Hofstra who is currently ranked in the top 10.
Senior Dean Gibbons leads the team with 22 points on 15 goals and seven assists. Junior Jeff Cohen is second with 16 points on 14 goals and two assists. Junior Kevin Vaughan is third with nine goals and five assists for 14 points.
Sophomore Harry Krieger has started all six games at goalkeeper. He has a 9.80 goals against average, 57 saves and a .500 save percentage in 349 minutes.
SERIES HISTORY
The two teams will meet for the 82nd time with the Crimson leading the series, 44-36-1. The teams first met in 1926 at Harvard with the Crimson winning, 16-4. The Big Green haven't beaten Harvard at home since 2005, when they earned a 10-7 victory. In the last ten games each team has won five times.
