HANOVER, N.H. — Junior goalkeeper Fergus Campbell (New Canaan, Conn.) earned the Ivy League Player of the Week honor on Monday after his performances against North Carolina and Harvard.
Campbell helped Dartmouth post a 1-1 record last week, including a
win over Harvard in its Ivy League opener. Against sixth-ranked
North Carolina, Campbell made nine saves. Then against the Crimson,
Campbell stymied the high flying Harvard offense, which had entered
Saturday's contest averaging better than 12.5 goals per game,
to its lowest goal total of the season in Dartmouth's 9-8 win. Ferguson made 17 saves to tie his season-high mark,
grabbed 10 ground balls and caused two turnovers.
Campbell finished the week with 26 saves and a .565 save
percentage. It is the second time he has been named Ivy League
Player of the Week, having also earned the honor on April 5,
2010.
The Big Green face their fourth consecutive ranked foe when they play at seventh-ranked Cornell on Saturday at 3 p.m.
