Men's Heavyweight Rowing
at Head of the Charles

4/2/2011 5:15:00 PM | Men's Heavyweight Rowing
The 2000 meter course featured floating starts in good conditions with a very light chop. There was a slight cross tail wind of 15-18 mph.
The Big Green varsity eight won its race in a time of 5:53.6 ahead of Holy Cross in a time of 6:05.8.
"It was a good day for the program, especially for the lower boats," said head coach Topher Bordeau. "The 3V rowed an especially aggressive race, and it was great to see the freshmen crews race hard as they rowed for Dartmouth for the first time in spring racing. We have a lot of work to do and a lot to figure out as we prepare for Yale, but it was a solid start to the spring."
Dartmouth also fared well in the second varsity race, with Dartmouth's 2V taking first in a time of 6:08.2. The Big Green's 3V boat made it a thriller for second, edging the Crusaders in a time of 6:19.4, just 0.2 seconds ahead of the Holy Cross 2V.
The Big Green freshmen also won their novice race in a time of 6:13.2 ahead of Holy Cross in 6:17.4. A second Dartmouth freshman boat finished third.
Dartmouth is back in action next Saturday with a trip to Derby, Conn. to face Ivy and EARC foe Yale.
