HANOVER, N.H. — Dartmouth ended its four-game losing streak on Tuesday in a 9-7 home victory over Vermont. The Big Green scored the last six goals in the contest to secure the win.
SCOUTING THE BIG GREEN
Dartmouth plays its last Ivy road game on Saturday when it travels to Penn. The Big Green enter the game with a 5-7 record overall and a 1-3 mark in the Ivy League. Dartmouth is looking to end a six-game losing streak away from Scully-Fahey Field.
Dartmouth has seven players who have recorded double-digit points through 12 games. Junior co-captain Kip Dooley (Minneapolis, Minn.) leads the team with 29 points on 13 goals and a team-high 16 assists. Junior Drew Tunney (Greenwich, Conn.) is second on the squad with 14 goals and 10 assists for 24 points. Sophomore Nikki Dysenchuk (Darien, Conn.) is third with 15 goals and seven assists for 22 points. Senior captain Rhett Miller (Dallas, Texas) is fourth with 17 goals and four assists for 21 points. Freshman Jeff Perkins (Dallas, Texas) has 16 points on 13 goals and three assists, and sophomore Chris Costabile (Sykesville, Md.) has 13 points on 11 goals and two assists. Junior John DeChiaro (Port Jefferson Station, N.Y.) rounds out the double-digit scorers with 12 points on five goals and seven assists.
Junior Fergus Campbell (New Canaan, Conn.) has started all 12 games at goalkeeper and has a 10.96 goals against average, a 5-7 record and a .529 save percentage. In 673:28 minutes, he has made 138 saves, including a game high 17 three different times.
The team is averaging 9.58 goals per game, while allowing 11.00 goals against. The Big Green take 36.5 shots per game and grab 29.25 ground balls per game. The team is 13-for-41 in man-up situations for a conversion rate of 31.7 percent.
EVERY-GAME SCORER
Dooley continued his streak of scoring in all 12 games the Big Green has played this season. He now has 29 points on 13 goals and 16 assists. His season high was five points at Holy Cross on two goals and three assists.
Freshman Brendan Rotanz (Westport, Conn.) has the second longest scoring streak at four games. In those games he has five points on four goals and an assist.
SAVES-A-PLENTY
In the Big Green's last six games, Campbell has recorded double-digit saves in each contest for a total of 85 saves. He is averaging 14.17 saves in that span and has a .578 save percentage.
He has moved into a tie for 10th in the nation in saves per game at 11.45. Austin Kaut of Penn State leads the NCAA at 13.82 saves per game.
NIFTY FIFTY
Miller recorded the fiftieth point of his career on Tuesday in the win over Vermont. He tallied the milestone point on his second goal of the game with 3:09 left in the third quarter. He now was 40 goals and 10 assists in his career. Dooley (66 career points) is the only active player with more points.
SCOUTING THE QUAKERS
Penn enters the weekend with a 7-4 record overall and a 3-2 mark in the Ivy League. The Quakers are undefeated at home with a 5-0 record. Penn has won its last two games and three of the last four. The team has had four games go to overtime, including a double and triple overtime contest.
Corey Winkoff leads the team in points with 28 on seven goals and 21 assists. Al Kohart is second with 21 goals and three assists for 24 points. Rob Fitzpatrick is third with 16 points on 11 goals and five assists.
Brian Feeney has played the majority of the minutes at goalkeeper with 665:38. He has a 7.57 goals against average, a .472 save percentage, 75 saves and a 7-4 record.
The Quakers average 8.91 goals per game and 7.73 goals against. Penn takes 32.8 shots per game, and grabs 24.45 ground balls per game.
SERIES HISTORY
Saturday will mark the 64th meeting between Penn and Dartmouth. The Quakers lead the all-time series, 37-26. The two teams first met on March 26, 1928 in Hanover, with the Big Green earning an 8-5 victory. Dartmouth won last year's meeting, but Penn has won four of the last five. The Big Green last won at Penn in 2005.
