PHILADELPHIA, PA. — At the 117th Penn Relays, the Dartmouth men's track and field team had multiple athletes place at the historic event.
The best finish for the Big Green came in the 4x800 College event. The quartet of senior Tom Robbins (Evanston, Ill.), freshman Steve Mangan (Honeoye Falls, N.Y.), freshman Joseph Woiwode (Rockville, Md.) and sophomore Anthony Romaniw (Hamilton, Ont.) took fourth with a time of 7:28.73. In the 4x400 Heptagonal, the combo of Woiwode, sophomore Tyrone DeSpenza (New Orleans, La.), senior Joe Lonek (Epping, N.H.) and freshman Jalil Bishop (Twinsburg, Ohio) took third in the five-team event at 3:19.47.
In the Championship javelin event, senior Daniel Ostrovsky (Wellesley, Mass.) took 10th with a throw of 56.83 meters (186-05.00 feet). In the College javelin competition, senior Chris Roe (Berwyn, Pa.) finished 12th at 58.43 meters (191-08.00). Senior David Irving (Manchester, N.H.) placed in two different events. He took 10th in the hammer throw Championship event at 52.10 meters (170-11.00 feet) and 11th in the Eastern shot put competition with a mark of 15.41 meters (50-06.75 feet). Freshman Dom Filiano (Lebanon, N.H.) took 12th in the shot put at 15.39 meters (50-06.00 feet).
The Big Green compete next weekend at the Ivy Heptagonals at Yale.
