Sam Bean was included on the Capital One Academic All-District I Second Team for baseball as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) today. This is the second straight year Bean has been named to the second team, and he is one of eight Ivy League players to be chosen for one of the two teams this year.
The outfielder from Needham, Mass., is currently seventh in the Ivy League with a .338 batting average and 51 hits. Bean also sits among the top 10 in runs scored (34, sixth) and doubles (11, eighth), plus has 25 RBIs and stolen four bases in four attempts entering the Ivy Championship Series at Princeton this weekend. A career .329 hitter with 20 doubles, Bean has played in 94 games in his career, collecting 20 doubles, three triples and his first career home run last weekend against Harvard in a 4-1 victory. He has started 37 of the Big Green's 39 games this season, helping the team tie the program record with 29 victories and win its fourth consecutive Rolfe Division title.
