NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Back at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center on Sunday, freshmen Kristina Mathis and Alexxis Kiven, and sophomore Taylor Ng represented the Dartmouth women's tennis team on day three of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championships. The Big Green went 3-1 in singles action and 0-1 in doubles.
In singles, Ng and Mathis made it through the third round, and Ng continued on to defeat her opponent in the Round of 16. The Big Green sophomore will advance to the quarterfinals.
Ng had a 6-2, 6-1 victory of the host's Sherry Li in the third round and, at the same time, Mathis defeated Brenna Bachini of Syracuse by a score of 6-2, 6-1. After advancing to the Round of 16, Ng led right from the beginning in her match against Brown's Hannah Camhi, winning by a score of 6-4, 6-2. Against June Lee of Harvard, Mathis started off the first set ahead, but ultimately fell, 6-3, 6-4.
In doubles quarterfinals, Ng and Kiven and Mariam Zein and Gina Li of Rutgers went back-and-forth for the entire match, ending with an 8-7(7) victory for the Scarlet Knights.
On Monday, Ng will face Columbia's Kanika Vaidya in the quarterfinals of the ITA Regional Championships.
