NEW HAVEN, Conn. – Dartmouth women's tennis was represented by Taylor Ng on the fourth day of the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) Regional Championship on Monday, as the Big Green sophomore made it all the way to the semifinals before being knocked out by Yale's own Hanna Yu. Throughout the Championship, Ng went 4-1 in singles.
“Overall, Dartmouth women's tennis had an outstanding tournament,” head coach Bob Dallis said. “Taylor in particular made a statement with her play this week with a number of dominating performances. Today in the semifinals was an especially high level match that could have gone either way. Both players did an amazing job.”
In the quarterfinals, Ng defeated top seed Kanika Vaidya of Columbia by a score of 7-5, 6-1. In a very aggressive, back-and-forth semifinal match against the host's Hanna Yu, Ng tied the score and took the lead a handful of times, but ultimately fell, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, ending her run at Regionals.
The Big Green women's tennis team had a strong showing at the event, which was held at Yale's Cullman-Heyman Tennis Center and featured the best collegiate tennis players in the northeast region. Dartmouth returned home with a record of 6-4 in singles play and 3-2 in doubles action.
“I think all the women represented Dartmouth really well and competed to the end of every match, no matter the situation,” Dallis continued. “There was no giving up.”
The Green and White will take the weekend off and will host the Big Green Invite, their first home event of the year, from Friday, Oct. 31 through Sunday, Nov. 2. Dartmouth will welcome Boston University, UMass and Miunnesota to campus.
