CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – The Dartmouth men's tennis team took part in the first day of the UTR Metro Open at the Murr Tennis Center on Harvard's campus on Halloween, winning six of its singles matches. The three-day tournament, which features not only collegiate players, but also some top juniors and adult players, provided plenty of competition for the Big Green squad.
Freshman Paul Midgley was the lone Dartmouth representative in the first round, defeating his opponent in two close sets, 7-6, 7-5. He went on to face the Crimson's Kelvin Lam in the second round, falling by a score of 6-2, 6-2. Also in the second round, fellow freshman Max Fliegner had an easy 6-1, 6-1 victory over Einbinder, while sophomore Blake Niehaus defeated Sam Silver of Amherst, 6-4, 6-2.
The Big Green will return to the court tomorrow for more singles matches, while all doubles matches will be played on Sunday.
