HANOVER, N.H. – On the final day of the three-day Big Green Invite on a chilly Sunday afternoon, the Dartmouth women's tennis team won five of its six matches against Boston University. The Green and White went 15-3 throughout the weekend against UMass, Minnesota and BU and sophomore Taylor Ng won singles, going 3-0.
“This was an excellent finish to an outstanding fall,” head coach Bob Dallis said. “We want to thank all of our fans that came out to support us this weekend.”
For the second time this during the Invite, Dartmouth won all four of its singles matches. Ng had a 6-3, 7-5 victory over Johanna Hyoty, while freshman Kristina Mathis had a close match with Iryna Kostirko, winning by a score of 7-6, 6-4. Senior Akiko Okuda defeated Barbara Rodriguez, 6-4, 6-4, and freshman Julia Schroeder had an easy 6-1, 6-1 win over Kim McCallum.
In doubles action, Schroeder and fellow freshman Alexxis Kiven had an 8-4 win over Hyoty and Kostirko, while Okuda and Mathis fell to Rodriguez and McCallum in a close match by a score of 8-6.
As this is Dartmouth's final match of the fall, it will take a quick break and return for the spring portion of the season on Saturday, Jan. 17 when it hosts Boston College.
