PRINCETON, N.J. – After ending the 2014 season over the weekend, two members of the Dartmouth volleyball team earned All-Ivy honors, revealed by the League office on Thursday. Junior co-captain Paige Caridi was named to the second team, while sophomore Emily Astarita received honorable mention distinction.
Caridi is appearing on the second team for the first time in her career, having been named an honorable mention last year as a sophomore. The Austin, Texas, native ended the season tied for first on the team with Astarita with 268 kills, first in solo blocks (11), second in digs (279), fourth in assists (54) and total blocks (39) and fifth in service aces (13).
She is currently tied for 20th in the all-time record books for kills in a season and is 19th in kills per set (3.08). Throughout the 2014 campaign, she recorded eight double-doubles in kills and digs. Earlier this month, Caridi was selected to the Capital One Academic All-District Second Team, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).
Being honored for the first time in her two years with the Big Green, Astarita ended her season tied for first in kills, first in total blocks (54) and block assists (48), third in digs, sixth in assists (13) and fourth in service aces. In the all-time record book, the Setauket, New York, native is tied for 20th in season kills.
Dartmouth ended its season in Leede Arena over the weekend, falling to Cornell (3-1) and Columbia (3-0). The Green and White wrapped up 2014 with an overall record of 13-12 and an Ivy League mark of 4-10 to tie for sixth with Columbia.
