SATURDAY'S GAME
The Dartmouth women's lacrosse team is in action on the road Saturday at Princeton in an Ivy League contest. The two teams will begin play from Sherrerd Field at Class of 1952 Stadium at 1 p.m.
LAST TIME OUT
The Big Green met up with Hofstra Monday afternoon in the first-ever meeting between the programs. The Pride controlled play with a slow tempo and lengthy possessions, scoring a late goal and holding Dartmouth on the final shot of the game to earn the 9-8 victory at Scully-Fahey Field.
TWO-FER WEEKEND
It wasn't just a one-game week for the Green and White with the contest against Hofstra. Dartmouth and No. 9 Penn met up on Saturday afternoon as well. The Quakers showed why they are the best defensive team in the Ivy League this year, holding the home team to just one first-half goal. The Big Green would outscore its Philadelphia-based counterparts, 5-4, in the second stanza, but were unable to overcome the early deficit, falling, 10-6.
SCOUTING THE TIGERS
Princeton did what no other Ancient Eight team had done before this season by beating Penn on Wednesday evening. The Tigers defeated the visiting Quakers, 9-5, to improve to 5-1 in conference games this season, usurping the top spot from Penn in the process. In earning the four-goal win, Princeton improved to 9-4 overall this season and currently sits just outside the nation's top-20 in both national polls. Erin McMunn leads the team in goals (27) and points (38), spearheading a balanced attack that features eight 20-plus point scorers. Annie Woehling has been outstanding in the circle with an 8-1 record to go along with a 7.74 goals-against average and a .479 save percentage. In the last five games, Woehling has a 6.67 GAA and a .507 save percentage, while McMunn has been on a tear with 17 goals and 20 points.
ALL-TIME AGAINST PRINCETON
Saturday will mark the 42nd all-time meeting between the two programs dating back to the 1980 season. Princeton won the regular-season contest in Hanover last spring, but Dartmouth exacted its revenge with an 11-10 double-overtime win in the Ivy League Tournament semifinals held at Penn's Franklin Field. The Green's last road win at Princeton came on April 19, 2008 (13-12).
ANOTHER CLOSE ONE
In the team's last four losses dating back to March, three have come by two goals or fewer. Penn's four-goal victory was the biggest margin by any team to defeat the Big Green since a seven-goal win for Florida on Mar. 18.
DONE AT HOME
The game against Hofstra wrapped up the 2014 home season at Scully-Fahey Field. Dartmouth finished the spring with a 3-4 mark in home games, marking the first sub .500 record since 2008 (4-5) and just the second in head coach Amy Patton's 23 seasons.
TOUGH TESTS
Dartmouth has a tough road ahead if it will make another run to the Ivy League Tournament. Saturday's opponent can lock up at least a share of the conference title with a win, while Harvard — the regular-season finale foe next week — is battling for the one of the four spots as it currently sits tied for third at 3-2.
